Sunmai Bar & Resto is a beach bar and restaurant renovation in El Nido, Palawan, designed around a single concept; bringing the beach inside without losing the building. A timber post-and-beam frame with wide overhanging eaves keeps the dining area open on all sides, while a stacked brick wall anchors the main facade as both structure and signage. The material palette; terracotta tile, raw concrete, metal mesh, and maroon plaster; carries the same rough-coastal logic from exterior to interior bar. Raw, layered materials are applied consistently throughout, reinforcing the casual, coastal character of the site. The result is a space that reads as both informal and architecturally deliberate, rooted in its beachfront context without relying on ornament.
